"We all have dreams. But in order to make dreams come into reality, it takes an awful lot of determination, dedication, self-discipline, and effort." Jesse Owen

Never give up. Motivation

A brilliant concept to create an electric light bulb sparked up centuries ago. In 1802, Humphry Davy invented the first electric light, called Electric Arc Lamp. While his invention produced light, it was too bright for use and did not produce it long enough. Over 20 other individuals came up with their inventions, according to historical accounts. However, several scientific factors made it impossible to have a sustainable light bulb. But in 1878, a man named Thomas Edison also began his research to find ways to produce long-lasting and practically usable light bulbs after establishing an industrial research laboratory in 1876. He had faith he could figure a way around the limitations of initial light bulb inventions. So he famously said, “we are going make electricity so cheap that only the rich will burn candles.” After so many trials, errors, failures, and getting back up to research and direct his team members, he discovered what could make a bulb last over 1,200 hours and 50 days.

We all feel like giving up at some point in our lives. No matter how different our journeys look, we all come to a phase that feels like we are in the world's extreme corner, a period of helplessness and hopelessness in life. Sometimes we find the strength to drag our broken spirits, wounded hearts, and tired limbs to the finish line. Unfortunately, other times, we do not seem to have what it takes to continue the journey in us. Victory looks impossible, and we give up even before trying or calling it quit just before our moment of breakthrough.
Great successes and breakthroughs in life frequently result from difficult struggles. Life is a marathon; there will be many high mountains and low valleys, but we must keep moving forward. If we had our way, we would all like to have a smooth run in a sprint, finish in a few seconds, and celebrate.  Even if life were a sprint, our success depends on countless hours of consistency and hard work effort to develop the capacity needed to cross the finish line. Although life can be challenging, the regret of not trying and failing is much worse than the dread of failure. Difficult circumstances build strong, inventive, and creative people.

All things are possible to them that believe. We have the choice to try and try until we finally succeed. We mostly have so little to lose and so much to gain. A person with little to lose is powerful and dangerous in every environment. We always have so much advantage on our side, so much potential to win. But we focus a lot on  "what ifs?" and forget that no matter how dark and long the night is, it always has to make room for the light of day when the night is over because it cannot forever be nighttime. There is always something to be thankful for, no matter how difficult life is. Life sometimes comes at us, making us feel like we are at the unforgiving end of the world's wrath, at a crossroad with no particular direction to go. However, the quality of the subsequent stage of life is determined by how we respond to those bad life situations.

Like the journey to developing a light bulb, the road can be long, lonely, intimidating, and outrightly uninspiring. It can feel fake and out of purpose. Some days will look like we are almost at the point of a breakthrough, while others will look like we are fighting an already lost battle. But we must stay true to ourselves and remember why we started the journey in the first place. Every successful person has, at some point, failed, and failure is a normal part of the process. Their secret, however, is their refusal to be defined as failures. As long as there is life, there is hope and an opportunity to live our most frightening dreams. Nobody has ever won a race by concentrating on the other players. People may seem to have it all figured out, and some may be luckier, but even those born with silver spoons would have to learn its value, not lose it. Life is worth living, and a fairy tale ending is only possible if we do not give up before our prince charming arrives.
